ADHD Test & Self-Assessment

ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental conditions affecting Canadian children today. Yet, it remains one of the most misunderstood and under diagnosed. Disability Credit Canada has connected with ADHD experts Canada-wide to put together a free ADHD symptom quiz.

Does My Child Have The Symptoms Of ADHD?

Forgotten backpacks. Lost phone charger. Missed soccer practice. A call indicating your child is late for class …again. As a parent, we have all at some point or other wondered if our child would lose their own head if it wasn’t attached to their body. But, then again, kids will be kids, right?
Yet for the thousands of children living with the disorder, diagnosed or not, the condition can feel like more than “a few bad days”. The daily tasks of life may feel like an overwhelming, consistently challenging series of steps that constantly rearrange themselves. Exhausting? You bet.
With ADHD being one of the most misunderstood and underdiagnosed conditions affecting young people today, trying to find out if you or someone you love is struggling with the condition can seem like a daunting task.
You’ve looked up the stats. You know the common symptoms. But does that mean you (or someone you love) actually has the condition?

Okay, So How Do You Know If My Child Has ADHD?

The truth is, only a medical professional is qualified to diagnose a medical condition like ADHD. Quizzes online are NOT a replacement for medical diagnosis and our ADHD quiz is no exception. Disability Credit Canada’s ADHD Quiz should not be considered as a diagnosis. For more information on ADHD diagnosis, we highly recommend CADDAC’ Resource Assessment and Diagnosis page. A thorough diagnosis for ADHD comes from a specialist or registered medical professional, and may come at an additional cost.
All that said, quizzes like the one we have developed are a great starting point on the journey of self-education, perhaps the most important first step in advocating for yourself or someone you love.
Disentangling symptoms, characteristics, and traits associated with a medical condition is a difficult and often frustrating process. It is natural for us to look at a condition and relate it to ourselves in every way it seems to fit. Luckily, that’s why graded quizzes like this one can provide a rubric to compare our behaviour to.

What Does It Mean If This Quiz Says My Child Has ADHD?

First off, don’t panic! As we mentioned before, this quiz is not a professional diagnosis. Your child could be going through a phase, or may have had an “off-week”. However, if you feel your child is showing substantial signs of ADHD, or their symptoms appear to be causing them to struggle with their health, well-being, or academic progress, you may want to use this quiz as anecdotal evidence, and investigate further.
Taking your concerns to your Family Physician, your child’s’ pediatric medical practitioner, or a professional specialized in recognizing ADHD may be a great next step.

The quiz consists of 15 short questions describing daily situations and it shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to complete
